We sell bus tickets and hotel stays across India, and we build the parts of that most people only notice when they break.
What we do
BookMyYaan is an online travel platform for journeys within India. You can book bus tickets— comparing AC, non-AC, sleeper and seater services, choosing from the operator’s own live seat map, and picking your boarding and drop points — and book hotel stays, with room types, inclusions and the cancellation terms for that specific rate shown before you pay.
We are a booking platform, not a carrier or a hotelier. The coach, the driver, the room and the breakfast belong to the operator or the property; what belongs to us is everything between you deciding to travel and you holding a valid ticket — and everything afterwards if it has to be undone.
Flights are not launched. The search form and the plumbing exist, but no supplier sits behind them, so we do not show the category at all rather than take you to an empty results page.
How we build it
Booking travel fails in specific, well-known ways. These are the ones we engineered against first, and each is a property of the system rather than a promise about our intentions.
The price you were shown is the price you pay
Fares and rates move between a search and a checkout, because they are live. We re-check yours with the operator before taking payment. If it has changed you are shown the new total and you decide — we do not quietly charge a different number, and we do not hold a stale price we cannot honour.
A retry is never a second booking
Confirmation attempts are de-duplicated at the database, not by hoping the customer only presses once. A flaky connection, an impatient tap or a repeated payment cannot produce two tickets for one journey.
A slow supplier is not a lost booking
When an operator is slow to answer, the booking is reconciled rather than abandoned. Money is collected before a ticket is issued, so a payment that lands against a booking that then fails leaves a recorded, refundable state — never an untraceable debit.
The terms are the terms you accepted
Cancellation policy is captured and frozen onto your booking when the seats or the room are held. What the operator publishes later does not reach back into a trip you have already paid for.
We would rather say we do not know
Where a supplier's cancellation charge is stated in a unit we cannot read with certainty, we show their wording and say the figure is unknown, instead of printing a number that might be wrong by a factor of ten. A guess in front of an irreversible button is worse than a blank.
We do not advertise what we cannot sell
Flights are built but have no supplier behind them yet, so there is no flight search box, no flight tab and no flight link anywhere on this site. An empty category is a dead end with a logo on it.
The name
Yaan is a Sanskrit word for a vehicle or a journey — the thing that carries you, rather than the place you end up. The bird in our mark is a garuda, which in Indian tradition is the one that does the carrying.
