The questions we are asked most, answered against how the site actually behaves. If your answer is not here, write to us — a real person reads that mailbox.

Booking

Searching, choosing a seat or a room, and getting to a confirmed booking.

How do I book a bus ticket?

Start from bus search: enter your route and date, then pick a service from the results. You choose your seats on the operator’s own live seat map, then your boarding and drop points, then enter passenger details, then pay. The booking is confirmed on the screen after payment and by email.

How do I book a hotel?

Start from hotel search: enter the city, your dates and how many rooms and guests. Pick a property, then a room type, then enter guest details and pay. Room rates, inclusions and the cancellation policy for that specific rate are shown before you pay.

Do I need an account to book?

No. You can book as a guest, and we will email the ticket or voucher to the address you give us. An account is worth having for two reasons: your bookings are then listed under My Bookings instead of living only in your inbox, and some offers are account-only.

Can I book for someone else?

Yes. Enter the traveller’s details as they appear on the photo ID they will carry, and give a contact number and email that will actually be reached on the day of travel — operator messages about delays or platform changes go there.

Why did the price change while I was booking?

Because we re-check it with the operator before you pay rather than after. Fares and availability are live and can move between a search and a checkout. If anything moved, you are shown the new total and you choose whether to continue — nothing changes quietly, and nothing is charged against the old price.

Where are flights?

Not launched. The site currently sells bus tickets and hotel stays across India. We would rather not show you a search box that has nothing behind it.

Payments

What you can pay with, and what happens when a payment goes wrong.

Which payment methods can I use?

UPI, credit and debit cards, net banking and wallets. Payment is taken on our payment provider’s own hosted checkout, so your card number is entered inside their frame and never reaches BookMyYaan.

My money was debited but I have no booking. What now?

Do not book again, and do not travel on the strength of a debit alone. Money is collected before the operator is asked to issue the ticket, so this is a state we plan for: where the payment landed and the booking then failed, the booking is held in review, the payment is recorded against it, and you are told a refund is coming.

If you closed the tab or lost your connection during payment, we may not have been told the payment finished — that one needs a person. Email support@bookmyyaan.com with the amount, the time and your bank’s reference, and we will trace it with the payment provider and either issue the ticket or return the money.

I paid twice by retrying. Have I been double-booked?

No. Confirmation attempts are de-duplicated in the database, so retrying a payment cannot produce a second ticket for the same booking. Any duplicate charge is returned.

How do I use an offer code?

Copy the code from the offers section, then enter it in the fare panel on the payment screen, next to the total. The discount is applied and the new total shown before you pay. Once payment is taken the booking can no longer be repriced, so the field is not offered after that — apply the code first. Some codes need you to be signed in; those say so on the card.

Can I get a GST invoice?

For hotel bookings, yes, where the property allows it: a company block appears at the guest details step, and the details you enter there go to the property with the booking. It is absent rather than greyed out when the property does not support it.

For anything else, the amount you paid is shown on the booking under My Bookings and in your confirmation email. Ask support@bookmyyaan.com for a document against a booking reference.

Tickets and travel

Finding your ticket, and what the operator will ask for on the day.

Where is my ticket?

In the confirmation email we sent when the booking was made, and — if you were signed in — under My Bookings, where every ticket has its own page you can open or print.

If you booked as a guest, the booking is not listed on this site: use the link in the email. If that email is gone, write to support@bookmyyaan.com from the address you booked with and we will resend it.

Do I need to print it?

No. Showing it on your phone is enough. The ticket page is built to print cleanly if you would rather carry paper.

What do I need to carry?

Your ticket, and photo ID for every passenger where the operator requires it — the booking says whether yours does. Reach your boarding point ahead of the reporting time printed on the ticket. Operators do not wait, and a missed boarding is not a cancellation.

Can I change my boarding or drop point after booking?

Not on this site. Boarding and drop points are fixed with the operator when the seats are held. Contact the operator using the number on your ticket; if they agree to a change, they make it on their side.

My bus is late, or it never came.

Contact the operator first — they are the only party who knows where the coach is. If the service was not run at all, tell us at support@bookmyyaan.com with your booking reference so we can take it up with them on your behalf.

Changes, cancellations and refunds

The short version. The full policy, including timings and who decides what, is on its own page.

How do I cancel?

Open the booking under My Bookingsand use Cancel. Before you confirm, the screen tells you what the cancellation will cost and what you should get back, using the operator’s own policy for that booking.

When will my refund arrive?

Usually 5–7 working days from when the operator settles the cancellation, back to the account you paid from. We email you when the refund is sent, and again when it completes.

Can I change the date instead of cancelling?

Not through this site. Bus and hotel bookings are cancelled and rebooked rather than amended, so the cancellation charge in your policy applies. Check the charge on the cancel screen before you commit to it.

Account and data

Signing in, and what we hold about you.

I cannot sign in.

Check that you are using the email address or mobile number the account was created with. If you signed up with a social account, use that same button rather than a password. Blocking cookies also prevents sign-in: the session is kept in an HTTP-only cookie, and without it there is nothing to keep you signed in.

Can I delete my account?

Yes, and you do not need to be signed in to read how. See the data deletion instructions. Bookings, invoices and payment records are kept where tax and financial law requires it; the rest is deleted or anonymised.

What do you do with my data?

The privacy policy lists what is collected and why, and the cookie policy covers what is stored in your browser. We do not sell personal data.

Still stuck

One mailbox, read by people who can act on it.

Email support@bookmyyaan.com. Include your booking reference if you have one — it is the fastest way for us to find the booking, the payment and the operator’s side of it in one go.

Never send a password, a card number, a CVV or a one-time code, to us or to anyone claiming to be us. We will never ask you for any of them.
